“We need to appreciate the performance of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force which has taken steps such as blocking online gambling sites, freezing accounts, taking action against buying and selling accounts, or the idea of limiting the purchase of credit or top ups at minimarkets,” said Yusar.
Regarding the fact that many people are still playing online gambling, according to Yusar, that is another matter. It is difficult to change the behavior of playing online gambling that has been going on for years with instant action.
“Especially if we refer to data from the Ministry of Communication and Information that many online gambling players come from low-income communities, I think the priority is to improve the welfare of the community first,” said Yusar.
Yusar also commented on the Ministry of Communication and Information’s policy of blocking free VPNs. According to him, it is a preventive measure to prevent people from playing online gambling.

“Normatively, preventive measures against online gambling behavior such as educating, improving morals, or doing positive things can still be done simultaneously. Blocking free VPNs is a real preventive measure to prevent online gambling behavior,” said Yusar.
