Active for 3 years… KIA replaces foreign batsman for new season
Socrates Brito, a ‘good foreign hitter’ who played for the KIA Tigers for three seasons, said goodbye to his fans.
On the 27th, Socrates said on his SNS, “I am grateful to have been able to play for KIA for three years and I am grateful to the club for taking good care of my family. I would also like to thank my colleagues who treated me like family and the coaching staff who helped me become a better player. The fans who gave me gratitude and passionate love will never be forgotten. “I will hold you all in a corner of my heart,” he wrote.
“I am happy that my efforts during the season have paid off with the win, and I will remember it forever,” he said. “Faith, gratitude, and joy are my feelings as I complete this long journey. “I will continue to move forward to take on new challenges,” he added.
Socrates added a heart emoticon along with ‘Tes hyung’ in Korean at the end of the post. ‘Hyung Tess’ is a nickname given to Socrates by KIA fans.
Socrates, who has been playing for KIA since the 2022 season, has been active for three years until this year and has participated in a total of 409 games. He left behind a career batting average of 0.302, 63 home runs, 266 runs, and 270 RBI.
This year, in his third year, he played in 140 games and recorded a batting average of 0.310, 26 home runs, and 97 RBIs, contributing to KIA’s regular season championship. In the Korean Series, he also contributed to the combined championship with a batting average of 0.300, 1 home run, and 5 RBIs in 5 games.
However, KIA, which aimed to build a dynasty, gave up on renewing Socrates’ contract after the end of the season and hired Patrick Wisdom, who has extensive Major League (MLB) experience, as a replacement.
Instead, Socrates’ right to reserve was released, paving the way for him to continue his career as a player at another club in the future.
