The reason – denied access of the collectors to the common and individual water meters

“Sofia Voda” discovered that water is actually used in many homes declared uninhabitable.

“Sofia Voda” begins phased inspections of cases with high water bills due to increased general use in the block. Buildings with more than 20 properties are inspected, in which the calculated total needs are more than 20% and more than 400 cubic meters of water have been billed in total.

Two specialized inspections have already been undertaken in bl. 40 in the residential area “Mladost 1” and in block 18 in the district “Suhata Reka”. In both cases, the common water meters, which are owned by the company, are functional and the reported data is correct.

The established inflated water bills are due to billing of general needs for a longer period back in time. In one case it is 6 months, and in the other – 1 year.

The reason is systematically unsecured access of the collectors by the residents of the buildings both to the common water meters and to the individual ones.

In such cases, Sofia Water follows a procedure, the first step of which is a written notification to customers of the large difference. Specialized checks at several stages follow: analysis of data in the company’s system, check of the meter owned by the operator, i.e. the general water meter.

A complete complex on-site inspection is also carried out with a walk-through and a real report of the water meters of everyone in the building. The company provides assistance in surveying the technical condition of the building installations for possible leaks. In case of proven inaccuracy due to the fault of the company, a correction is made and new invoices are issued.

“Sofijska voda” commented that these cases are not an exception recently, especially in neighborhoods with high-rise buildings and many residents. Since the beginning of the year, 40 such inspections have been carried out. Separately, 303 inspections were made in buildings with lower readings of the common water meter.

The results show that mostly there is a poor condition of the internal installation and many leaks on it. Sometimes, in such buildings, water from common areas is used irregularly and without an open lot. There are also quite a few properties in which individual water meters are not installed at all, as well as those with homes that are declared uninhabitable, but it turns out that water is being used.
