Sofia Goggia Undergoes Surgery Again But Remains Optimistic for Upcoming Season

by time news

In recent weeks and months, it seemed that Sofia Goggia was fitter than ever before. However, on Monday, the news came that the Italian ski queen underwent surgery again and will therefore not travel to South America.

Some skiing fans may have felt a little “fear” in their muscles when the Italian Winter Sports Federation FISI sent an email on Monday with the title “Press Release on Sofia Goggia.” And indeed: The fearless 31-year-old has undergone surgery once again. The good news: Although Goggia will miss the trip to South America to Ushuaia, the 2024/25 season is not in danger.

Goggia had the screws from her last surgery in February removed at the “La Madonnina” clinic in Milan. At that time, the Bergamasque had to be operated on after a training fall in which she broke her shin and ankle. “The operation was performed perfectly,” states the FISI announcement. Goggia is expected to resume training in the coming days.

The ski queen herself reached out to her fans via Instagram: “I was discharged from the clinic today and want to sincerely thank you. I am very happy that the screw has been removed because it caused me some issues with my ski boot.”
