A solar eclipse is set to occur on April 20, between 7:00 am and 12:29 pm, during the seventh day of the auspicious Sobhakritu Tamil year of Chitrai. The eclipse will be a total solar eclipse of Rahu Grahastha occurring in Ashwini Nakshatra, and will be visible in eastern parts of the world such as Northwest Venezuela, Australia, and Indonesia, but not in India. Mythological stories are told about eclipses, such as the story of Rahu and Ketu seeking revenge on the Sun and Moon through penance, leading to the creation of the eclipse.

Scientifically, a solar eclipse happens when the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth, causing the Moon to cover the Sun. A total solar eclipse can appear in some places, while in others it may be seen as a partial eclipse or a ring of fire solar eclipse.

Mythological stories also detail the tale of Vishnu taking the form of Mohini to prevent the Asuras from getting the nectar during the milky ocean incident. Meanwhile, Suvarbhanu, son of Kasyapa Maharishi, also feared he may not receive the nectar and drank it in disguise. Vishnu angrily hit Swarbhanu on the head with a bag, causing him to split into two bodies without the head and without a body without the head. To remedy this, Vishnu attached a snake body to the head and a human head to a snake body, creating Rahu and Ketu.

Experts advise certain precautions during an eclipse, such as pregnant women not going outside, avoiding eating, drinking water, cooking at home, and cutting nails during the eclipse. It is also recommended to use tarp grass in cooked food and to worship ancestors during the event.

CHENNAI: A solar eclipse will occur on Thursday, April 20, from 07:00 am to 12:29 pm, on the 7th day of the auspicious Sobhakritu Tamil year of Chitrai. The total solar eclipse of Rahu Grahastha occurring in Ashwini Nakshatra is visible in the eastern parts of the world such as Northwest Venezuela, Australia, Indonesia, India is not known. Let us know about Rahu Ketu astrologically and the mythological stories told about eclipses who will be afflicted by this eclipse.

To avenge the Sun and Moon, Rahu and Ketu thought of Brahman and were blessed by penance for many years. Puranic stories say that according to this varam, four times in a year he gave the boon of stopping the sight of the sun and moon from falling on the earth and this is called eclipse.

Although mythological stories are told about eclipses, scientifically when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth, the Moon covers the Sun. This is solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse appears in some places where the moon appears to cover the sun. In some places it will appear as a partial eclipse and in some places as a ring of fire solar eclipse.

Vishnu in the form of Mohini: Realizing that by drinking the amrita, one can get more strength and a life without death, the Devas joined the milky ocean. The agreement was that the gods and the demons would divide the nectar equally when the gods and demons joined the sea of milk by scaling the mountain and tying the snake. Realizing that it would be difficult to deal with the Asuras if they also drank the nectar, the Devas appealed to Vishnu. Maha Vishnu took the form of Mohini to prevent the Asuras from getting nectar. Amritakalasa was in Dhanvantri’s hand. Mohini bought it. Enchanted by her beauty, the demons asked Mohini to serve everyone. The gods also agreed. The issue arose as to who should be given amrita first. It was decided to give the clear water above to the gods and the turbid liquid below to the Asuras. Amrita was first offered to the gods.

Suvarbanu who became Deva: Suvarbhanu, son of Kasyapa Maharishi, also suspected some conspiracy in Mohini’s visit and sharing of amrita. Fearing that he might not get the nectar, Anji sat in a row of gods in a different guise. The sun and the moon saw this. By this time Mohini had given nectar to Swarbanu. He also gulped hastily. Suarbanu came in disguise and gave nectar to Lord Vishnu knowing what he was doing. That too for a reason.

Chopped Soorbaan: Unaware of this, Surya and Chandra immediately went to Mohini to tell what had happened, but Lord Vishnu angrily hit Swarbhanu on the head with the bag in his hand. Life did not go away due to the amrita being divided into two parts, the head and the body. Mohini says that she cannot give amrita to Asuras as they have broken the contract.
Asuras tried to steal the amrita kalas, Mohini quickly gave everything to the gods. Disappointed, the asuras ostracized Suvarbhanu from their clan, regretting that it was Suvarbhanu who got them amrita.

Snake Head Human Body : Swarbanu, who lay in two bodies but without a body but without a head, and without a head without a body, appealed to Brahman. Only Maha Vishnu can make an alternative arrangement for this’ said Brahman. Suvarbanu worshiped Vishnu and asked him to do penance. Vishnu immediately gave the snake body and attached it to the head. He also attached the head of a snake to a human body. The one with human head and snake body was called Rahu and the one with snake head and human body was called Ketu. But life is the same for both. He blessed them by telling them to travel in opposite directions in the star system.

How to get rid of sin: After the formation of Rahu Ketu, Maha Vishnu begins the Christian era. Now you have no job, you should have one more age to roam the star system. In the next Yuga, Tredayut, I will be born into humanity as Rama. Then by your power you will come to me as Rahu Gotandham and Ketu Amba. You will be used to kill Ravana, the last king of demons. He said then your sin will be removed. Raman vowed that you would move from right to left in the sky in an instant unlike other planets so that you could see the difference.

Solar and Lunar Eclipses: Rahu and Ketu sought the boon of Brahman to take revenge on the sun and moon that were responsible for their condition. Brahma refused to give that boon. After doing penance for a long time, they got boon from Brahma. According to this boon, four times in a year he gave the boon of stopping the sight of the sun and the moon from falling on the earth. This is called eclipse. Even today, there are stories about the serpent swallowing the sun and the moon. But scientists believe that eclipses are a miraculous event in the sky.

Solar Eclipse in Chitra Amavasha: A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are in the same straight line. A solar eclipse is when the moon passes directly between the sun and the earth, blocking the sun’s light from the earth. The first solar eclipse of the year will occur on April 20. This eclipse, which can occur on Chitrai Amavasha, is well visible in places like Australia and New Zealand. Since this eclipse is not known in India, there will be no dosha for the people here. At the same time, people born under the sign of Aries living in a country where the solar eclipse is visible must be careful.

What not to do: Whether it is a solar eclipse or a lunar eclipse, they say that the radiation emitted during that time should not affect pregnant women, so they should not go outside during those times. Sastras say that pregnant women should not eat, drink water, cook at home and cut their nails during the eclipse. We should eat food a few hours before the eclipse begins. After that nothing should be eaten until the eclipse is over. Elderly people, children and pregnant women are exempted in this regard. Elders advised that people with weak heart and high blood pressure should avoid going outside during the eclipse. Rubbing oil on the body should not be done during eclipse.

Irradiation resistant tarp grass: Tarp grass should be put in the cooked food. Tulsi should be placed. Tarpaipul is a plant that has the power to resist radiation. Whether auspicious or inauspicious, tarpai grass has an important place there. So during eclipses we use tarpa to protect food from radiation. It is best for everyone to stay indoors during a solar eclipse. Mantra can be recited by lighting a lamp in the pooja room. We can worship our departed ancestors on this day.
