Solar panels to protect the vines from heat and cold

This is the construction site at the Nidolères wine estate, in Tresserre (Pyrénées-Orientales). Machinery prepares a 3.8 ha plot of vines to be planted… and protected. Heavy-duty trucks transport the latest generation photovoltaic panels which will produce electricity (power of 3 megawatts/peak) while offering, during the heat waves, a refuge of shade and coolness at the foot of the vines.
