The double Olympic medalist continues her journey at the Worlds in Qatar with a qualification for the quarter-finals.
A job well done. Clarisse Agbégnénou, back at the Worlds after maternity leave, qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Judo Championships on Wednesday in Doha, in the -63 kg category.
The 30-year-old Frenchwoman, present in Qatar with her 11-month-old daughter, won against Israeli Gili Sharir, 7th in the world and winner of the Grand Slam in Paris in early February. In the third round, she disposed of Cuba’s Maylin Del Toro Carvajal by ippon in overtime. She had fought a close fight against the 16th world and recent finalist of the Grand Slam of Tel Aviv.
In the first round, she beat Serbian Anja Obradovic, 30th in the world, after 3 min 45 of combat.
Since her return, the double Olympic champion from Tokyo has competed in two competitions, the first with her club at the end of 2022, then the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv last February.
