This event, placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, on the sidelines of the 19th edition of the World Meeting of Sufism, is organized by the Al Moultaqa Foundation, in partnership with the Franco-Moroccan Association of Executives (AFMC), with the support of the Council of the Oriental Region and the Oriental Agency.

This year’s edition aims to highlight the crucial and complex issues related to the management of natural resources: The objective is to develop and promote sustainable and innovative strategies, aimed at preserving the environment while ensuring the sustainability of these vital resources for future generations.

Speakers at the opening ceremony of this edition (September 13-17) highlighted the content of the royal speech on the occasion of the Throne Day, in which the Sovereign stressed the urgency of protecting water resources to ensure sustainable and balanced development.

HM the King also affirmed the need to take immediate and sustained action to safeguard this precious resource, making water security a national priority that requires collective and coordinated commitment, they continued.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, stressed that water plays a vital role in the development of the economic, social and environmental sectors, noting that water is one of the fundamental pillars for supporting the major projects initiated by HM King Mohammed VI.

Morocco, he noted, has been facing for more than six years the challenge of water stress caused by climate change and the increase in demand for water resulting from the rapid evolution of socio-economic activities, hence the imperative to think about new means and practices for the development and management of this vital resource, and the rationalization of its use.

“In this context, it is the responsibility of all of us, individuals and institutions, to adopt a long-term vision of water management, so as to guarantee the sustainability of water resources and to preserve the rights of current and future generations to this vital commodity,” he insisted, adding: “it is also necessary to strengthen collective awareness of the importance of rationalizing the use of water and managing it wisely and judiciously.”

For his part, the Director of the Al Moultaqa Foundation, Mounir El Kadiri Boudchich, noted that this edition of the Solidarity Village has three main objectives: Raising public awareness of the crucial importance of water conservation, developing effective strategies for sustainable management of natural resources, and encouraging technological innovation in the field of sustainable development.

“Water, a divine gift and an indispensable resource, is essential not only for human survival but also for economic and social development,” he said, noting that in the face of severe water scarcity, it is imperative to adopt strategies based on innovation and cutting-edge technologies.

In this perspective, he continued, social entrepreneurs can play an important role in proposing innovative solutions adapted to current environmental challenges, continuing that it goes without saying that awareness and ethical responsibility play a conclusive role in the preservation of this vital resource.

To address these crucial issues, this edition of the Solidarity Village offers a rich and varied program of activities aimed at encouraging collaboration and stimulating innovation.

In addition to conferences and workshops focusing on best practices in water management and the latest technological advances, a start-up competition will be organized to highlight the most promising projects in the field of environmental technologies.

The Solidarity Village also includes an exhibition of local products as well as specialized training sessions to help startups and cooperatives optimize their management, finances and financing strategies, thus increasing their chances of success and impact on the market.

It is worth noting that the 19th World Meeting of Sufism is being held from September 11 to 16 in Madagh, under the theme “Sufism and the future of values in the era of artificial intelligence”.

In addition to the Solidarity Village, several other activities are scheduled on the sidelines of this Meeting, namely the Ecology Conference, the Citizen University, a recitation and psalmody competition of the Holy Quran, a youth forum of the Tariqa Qadiriya Boudchichiya, a poetry and Sufi texts competition, a book exhibition and a multidisciplinary medical campaign.
