Som Energia reopens the recruitment of new customers

by time news

BarcelonaThe energy cooperative Som Energia, which had given up attracting new customers last March due to the sharp rise in the price of electricity, has decided to attract new customers again; that yes, in a limited way. At the moment it does so only from the 2.0 TD rate, that is, in domestic customers, as ARA has learned.

The same company has explained to its current customers that the opening to attract new customers is gradual. Som Energia argues that the situation in the electricity market has changed from a few months ago, and the cost of energy, while still high, is not as exorbitant as it was then. “That’s why we’re very excited to be able to tell you that we can accept new hires again,” said the energy cooperative, which will still limit the number of new customers. “Both for the volume of work and the energy it represents, we will have to start with the 2.0TD rate contracts, and gradually,” the company explained.

The problem for small traders is that with the rise in the price of electricity in the wholesale market can create strong financial tensions. When in March, after the start of the war in Ukraine, the price of electricity soared, Som Energia explained that its accounts were sanitized but that the guarantees and guarantees required by the wholesale market, OMIE, could tighten treasury and financial needs. In fact, Som Energia made a whole plan to resist an electricity price of 500 euros per MWh, a scenario that has not occurred.

Waiting list for companies

The opening of hiring is limited to domestic customers, and the cooperative has indicated that those who want to hire a 3.0TD or 6.1TD rate (mostly companies and industries) at the moment will not be able to do so, although they encourage those who want to sign up -be on the waiting list for when this type of customer is accepted again.

Som Energia held its general assembly in June, in which the 2021 report was approved, a year that attracted 9,373 new members, reaching 77,528. During 2021, Som Energia sold 11% more energy than the previous year and had a turnover of 79.2 million euros with 133,260 contracts, 11% more than the previous year.
