“Some Members in the Cabinet Fear Confrontation,” says Zvika Fogel

Knesset member Zvika Fogel criticized the government’s approach to security policies in a conversation today. When asked if the events at the Temple Mount should have been handled differently in hindsight, Fogel suggested that limiting the number of people or closing the entrance would have been met with criticism from the Muslim and Christian world for infringing on freedom of religion.

Meanwhile, the IDF attacked Hamas targets in Lebanon during the Gaza conflict, resulting in alarms in the south and 25 intercepted rockets in the north. Fogel acknowledged the discussion around balancing the desire to allow prayers in holy places with the fear of events that could involve Israel’s Arab population.

Fogel also referred to recent events in the north and south, including airstrikes carried out by the Air Force at night. He criticized the government for being too afraid to engage in conflict and cited the need for a brave leader to initiate war.

Member of Knesset Zvika Fogel attacked the government’s security policy this morning (Friday). At the beginning of the conversation, he was asked whether, in retrospect, it would have been correct to conduct the events that took place on the Temple Mount differently – and he replied: “It may very well be, but if they limited the number of people on the Mount, or closed the entrance, then the entire Muslim and Christian world would jump up and say that we do not allow freedom of religion”.

According to him, there are discussions about the balance between the desire to allow prayers in the holy places – and the fear of a situation in which events will occur that will also involve some of Israel’s Arabs. Later in his speech, he referred to the events of the past few days in the north and south of the country, which included, among other things, a number of attacks carried out by the Air Force during the night. “We knew there would be shooting from Lebanon and Gaza, Hamas has been acting fearlessly for a long time,” he said.

“We are heroes to attack in an open area because there are people in the cabinet who are afraid to get into a conflict,” he concluded, “you need a brave personality to initiate a war, and we don’t have it.”
