The giant crocodile, more than four meters long and weighing more than a ton, was caught adventurously with a simple rope. The incident took place at Bhutan Regency in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Usman, 53, subdued a giant crocodile alone in a field flooded by torrential rains. According to Indonesian media reports, Usman, a resident of Amboind village, captured the crocodile within an hour.

The giant crocodile arrived at a privately owned field on Saturday. Crocodiles are found in large numbers in the nearby river. Incidents of crocodiles attacking humans are also frequently reported in the area. The area has received heavy rains in the last few days and areas including this field have been flooded. It is believed that this giant crocodile climbed here at that time.

Usman later told local media that he saw the crocodile while walking along the road. There are culverts adjacent to the field. There are also streams with lots of fish nearby. If the crocodile escapes there, all the neighbors are in danger. Usman says that is why he tried to catch the crocodile with a big rope he saw in the field.

Locals who witnessed the incident told local media that Usman had captured the crocodile alone. The crocodile was tied with a rope and tied to a nearby coconut tree. After that, its head was tied with another rope. Usman says it took about an hour. After the incident, the locals informed the wildlife department. Officials from there arrived and later took it away.

Local media outlet Composa.com quoted locals as saying that officials had struggled to transport the giant crocodile, which weighed more than a ton. The crocodile was loaded into a forest vehicle by 20 people. It is currently housed at the Southeast Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA).

The river Malog near the scene is full of crocodiles. The locals believe that the crocodile came here from there.
