Club “exercises option for one-year contract extension”
Son Heung-min (33, photo) continues his association with Tottenham in the English Premier League (EPL) for one more year.
On the 7th, Tottenham announced through official channels such as the club website, “We are exercising the option to extend the contract for Son Heung-min,” and “the contract is valid until the summer of 2026.”
Son Heung-min’s contract period was until June of this year. Son Heung-min included a one-year contract extension option in his second contract renewal in 2021, and the club exercised that option. Son Heung-min was embroiled in transfer rumors as the club made no announcement regarding the option exercise ahead of the expiration of his contract. However, according to the club’s official announcement on this day, Son Heung-min will play for Tottenham until next year.
Son Heung-min, who arrived at Tottenham in August 2015, will wear the Tottenham uniform for 11 years including the period of this contract. Son Heung-min is playing very well at Tottenham, scoring 169 goals in 431 official games and ranking 5th on the club’s all-time scoring list. Son Heung-min became the EPL’s joint top scorer (23 goals) in the 2021-2022 season at Tottenham, and in 2020, he received honors such as the FIFA Pushka Award (an award given annually to the player who scored the most outstanding goals over a certain period of time).
