Rakesh Panchal, resident of Kheda, Gujarat, has been serving hundreds of needy elderly people of his city for the last five years, through his free tiffin service.
Manubhai Panchal, a businessman from Kheda, Gujarat, has been helping the needy people around him for years by providing water to passersby. But, he died five years ago. After his father’s demise, his son Rakesh Panchal not only took over his shop but also became an example for many by adopting his service work.
Rakesh used to work in Mumbai till a few years ago. But due to his father’s illness, he decided to leave his job and go to Kheda to help his father in his business. During this time, he was not only learning the intricacies of the work but was also getting inspired by the noble deeds of his father. Talking to The Better India, he told that his father was a good-hearted person. There was always a pot full of water in front of his shop and he was known throughout the city for regularly taking out time to help needy people.
Rakesh was doing all these works after his father’s death but despite this he was not able to find peace of mind. He told that he had to do something which could help as many people as possible. Then he went to the city hospital and started giving food packets to the needy people.
At that time he used to buy ready packets and go to distribute them. But when the Corona period came, he decided to prepare food by making a small place near his shop and started delivering it to the destitute elderly people who had no one to take care of them. One by one, hundreds of people started coming to him for help and food.
Even after the Corona period, these elders did not have to worry about getting two meals a day, so Rakesh continued the tiffin service and named it an organization. Today, more than 500 people are taking advantage of tiffin from his organization ‘Visaano Parivar’. All this was possible because of Rakesh’s thinking and the teachings given by his father.
