Hubert Hurkacz will not keep his title in Metz. Opposed to Lorenzo Sonego (65th in the world) in the semi-finals of the Moselle Open, the Pole (seed number 2) lost in two sets against the Italian (7-6, 6-4). Winner of this symbolic meeting between the last player to have beaten Roger Federer (Hurkacz in the semis of Wimbledon 2021) and the last to have lost against the Swiss (Sonego in the quarters), it was therefore the Italian who triumphed for afford a fifth career final, his first in 2022.
He will face this Sunday the winner of the other semi-final between the returning Stan Wawrinka (284th) and the Kazakh Alexander Bublik (44th).
