Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women’s University revealed on the 15th that actress Song Hye-kyo donated 10,000 copies of guidebooks to the ‘Lee Tae-jun Memorial Hall’ located in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to commemorate Liberation Day.

This guidebook was produced in Korean and Mongolian by Song Hye-kyo and Professor Seo. It is currently displayed at the Lee Tae-jun Temporary Memorial Hall and will also be displayed at the Lee Tae-jun Memorial Hall that will open in the future.

The main contents of the guidebook are a detailed introduction to independence activist Lee Tae-jun’s anti-Japanese independence movement and activities in Mongolia, the Lee Tae-jun Memorial Park, Lee Tae-jun’s family grave, and his life.

Professor Seo, who planned this event, said, “With the number of Korean tourists visiting Mongolia increasing, I thought it was a good time to promote Lee Tae-jun, so I donated the guidebook.”

He also emphasized, “The preservation status of the independence movement historical sites remaining overseas is not very good,” and “Only the continued interest and visits of our citizens will be the greatest force in preserving the independence movement historical sites overseas.”
Also, if you are unable to visit Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, you can download the original file from the website ‘Stories of Our History Encountered Abroad’ and use it.

Over the past 13 years, with the support of Seo Kyung-deok and Song Hye-kyo, Korean guidebooks, Korean signboards, and reliefs of independence activists have been donated to 37 overseas sites of the Korean independence movement. In particular, they recently produced a multilingual video introducing the lives of female independence activists who are not well known to the public, such as Jeong Jeong-hwa and Yun Hee-soon.
