Sony Expands dvLED Portfolio with New Crystal Led S Series for Enhanced Visibility and Scalability

Sony is bolstering its direct view LED (dvLED) offerings with the introduction of the Crystal Led S series, designed to deliver a compelling combination of brightness, ease of installation, and cost-effectiveness for a wide range of professional applications. The new series aims to strengthen Sony’s position in the mid-range dvLED market, catering to growing customer demand for high-quality, scalable display solutions.

Addressing the Need for Bright, Versatile Displays

The Crystal Led S series is engineered to provide high visibility even in brightly lit environments, thanks to its 800 cd/m2 brightness and accurate color reproduction. This makes the displays well-suited for use in corporate offices, educational institutions, and commercial facilities where ambient light can often be a challenge. According to a company release, the series represents Sony’s commitment to delivering advanced technology with exceptional image quality and long-term reliability.

Introducing the ZRD-S12G and ZRD-S15G Models

The initial launch of the Crystal Led S series includes two models: the ZRD-S12G and the ZRD-S15G. These displays feature pixel sizes of 1.25 mm and 1.56 mm, respectively, offering a balance between resolution and cost. The scalable design allows for the creation of video walls of various sizes and shapes, adapting to diverse installation requirements. These high-quality, affordable options are expected to be available beginning in late spring 2026.

Streamlined Installation and Integration

One key advantage of the Crystal Led S series is its simplified installation process. The displays boast an ultra-thin profile – approximately 45mm (1.8 inches) thick – which speeds up implementation and can facilitate compliance with the European Accessibility Law (EAA) when used with appropriate mounting frames.

Furthermore, the series offers seamless integration with the MX30 and MX40 Pro controllers from Coex, a NovaStar flagship product. Utilizing these controllers extends the distance between the display housings and the controller up to 100 meters, providing greater flexibility in installation planning.

Long-Term Value and Sustainable Design

Sony has focused on reducing total cost of ownership with the Crystal Led S series. The displays incorporate energy-efficient operation, including a cool surface temperature and low power consumption. Pre-calibrated modules simplify maintenance and ensure precise installation, contributing to the longevity and durability of the displays. A protective surface coating further safeguards against accidental contact and extends the product’s lifespan.

The Crystal Led S series also leverages the same anti-reflective lighting technology found in Sony’s Crystal Led BH screens, ensuring rich image expression and accurate color reproduction even in environments with significant ambient light.

Expanding Sony’s dvLED Ecosystem

“Sony is strategically expanding its range of dvLED displays to ensure we have the right options to meet regular demands, adapt to different budgets, offer a wide variety of options, and ensure consistency that bridges the gap between our professional Bravia displays and dvLED products,” one analyst noted. The addition of the S series reinforces Sony’s broader strategy of providing a comprehensive portfolio of professional display solutions.

Upcoming Showcases

Sony plans to showcase the new Crystal Led S series at ISE 2026, taking place from February 3 to 6 in Barcelona, and at InfoComm 2026, scheduled for June 17 to 19 in Las Vegas. These events will provide industry professionals with a firsthand look at the capabilities of the new displays.
