Japanese Company Sony Honda Mobility Partners with Microsoft to Develop Interactive Artificial Intelligence for Avila Electric Cars

Las Vegas – Japanese company Sony Honda Mobility announced on Monday that it will be partnering with American technology giant Microsoft to develop interactive artificial intelligence for its Avila electric car. The collaboration aims to utilize Microsoft’s technology to control voice commands in the Avila and enhance the safety of automated driving in the new electric car. The partnership plan was revealed at a press conference ahead of the CES trade show, which begins in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday.

During the exhibition, the Sony-Honda joint venture impressed the audience with a demonstration of the Avila electric car. Izumi Kawanishi, the company’s vice president of smart car development, appeared on stage and used a PlayStation 5 controller to direct a demo car, showcasing an innovative application for remote control of a car using game controller technology.

The experimental model of the Avila electric car is equipped with 45 sensors distributed inside and outside the body of the car, designed and manufactured in collaboration with Qualcomm and Honda. The car boasts superior performance with 536 horsepower, a dual-engine power system, and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.8 seconds.

The partnership with Microsoft was further highlighted during the exhibition, as Jessica Hawke, Executive Director at Microsoft, announced that the car relies on Azure servers, Microsoft’s cloud service, to analyze the data collected by its sensors and take advantage of artificial intelligence capabilities available in the cloud service to develop the user experience inside the car.

The collaboration between Sony Honda Mobility and Microsoft represents a significant step toward integrating advanced technology and artificial intelligence into the automotive industry, potentially influencing the design and performance of future cars.
