by time news

Sony has released a release with images and descriptions of the design of the new generation of VR headset (PlayStation VR2) and controller (PlayStation VR2 Sense) for its PS5 game console. The start date of sales and the price are not named.

“We paid great attention to ergonomics and did a lot of testing to make sure the headset fits comfortably on any head size. Prior to this, PS VR’s ergonomics also received a lot of positive feedback for how we managed to distribute the weight, as well as for the ability to adjust the headband. We have kept this concept in mind when developing the PS VR2 headset,” Sony said in a statement.

Both new devices have a rounded shape, which “symbolizes the 360 ° view that is available to the player in the virtual world.” The overall design is “inspired” by the look of the PlayStation 5.

The company did not give an exact release date for PS VR2 and PS VR2 Sense, saying that on the day of release “the next chapter in the history of games in virtual reality will begin.”

Developer kits for the system have already been donated to game makers. On January 5, the company introduced the game “Horizon Call of the Mountain” from the studios Guerrilla and Firesprite for PS VR2.

Today and in the past, Sony has named some technical specifications and features of the new VR helmet:

  1. 4K HDR resolution, 110° field of view and advanced rendering. On OLED screens, players are waiting for a resolution of 2000×2040 pixels for one eye and a smooth frame rate of 90-120 Hz.
  2. Built-in 3D sound. The PS5 console’s Tempest 3D AudioTech brings the sounds around the player to life and takes immersion to the next level.
  3. Lens adjustment so players can adjust the distance between them.
  4. Less weight headset. Air vent to keep lenses from fogging up.
  5. Improved tracking with built-in camera.
  6. New built-in motor for recoil effect.
  7. A single USB Type-C cable is enough to connect the system.
