Sony is working on a portable remote gaming console

by time news

Does Sony intend to return to the mobile console market? About a decade after it launched the PS Vita, new reports claim that the company may introduce a new portable console in the near future. However, the console will not be completely independent, but the company plans to target it specifically as an aid to existing PlayStation 5 owners.

Apparently it will be a console that will allow remote play on the service that already exists today, the PS Remote Play. This is a feature that allows you to play PlayStation games on a remote screen such as a phone, tablet or laptop. In the same way, the new console will provide quick access to the titles saved on the console, but it will include game controllers and a more convenient configuration for mobile gaming.

As for the specifications, the report claims that the console, dubbed Q-Lite, will be very reminiscent of the existing PlayStation 5 controller, but one that will incorporate an 8-inch screen in the center. The console will support analog controllers and handles on the sides as well as the D-Pad and will also have additional buttons such as volume control, a headphone jack and a built-in speaker.

Since the console only streams content remotely, it won’t incorporate very powerful hardware and therefore won’t be able to run cloud games either. What’s more, because of this, the price is expected to be more accessible compared to the PS Vita, which cost 249 dollars at the time of its launch.
