Sony moves CD and gaming production to Thalgau.

100 workers at the US plant lose their jobs. The plant in western Indiana began in the 1980s as the first manufacturer of compact discs (CD) in the United States, the news agency “Associated Press” reported on Friday.

150 employees in Terre Haute will be retained and the site converted to an assembly and distribution facility. Sony attributed the changes to the “continuous shift to digital in the home entertainment market,” according to a statement.
