The famous business reality show Shark Tank ―which gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their projects to potential investors―, arrives in Guatemala thanks to Guatemala.comwho signed with Sony Pictures Television to acquire the production and broadcast rights for the programme starting in 2024.

On the alliance between both media to produce the program, Ramon GarciaSenior Vice President and General Manager of Distribution for Sony Pictures Entertainment Latin America, commented: “We are excited to bring the renowned Shark Tank format to a Central American country for the first time. Guatemala is a country with enormous potential and with this new edition, we hope to discover and support the incredible talent and innovation of its entrepreneurs. The first country in Central America with its own version

The program is the adaptation of the reality show Japanese Dragons’ Den from Nippon TV. Shark Tank has reached 50 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and now Guatemala, the first Central American country to have its own version.

Shark Tank Guatemala will feature exclusively Guatemalan entrepreneurs, who will present their projects to a panel of investors, known as “sharks,” with the goal of securing funding for their ventures. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to give visibility to their businesses, transform them with the help of investors, and receive valuable advice.

Call for entrepreneurs

Guatemala.com will soon open the call to select more than 40 entrepreneurs to participate in the first season. Production is scheduled for the last quarter of 2024. This initiative not only seeks to entertain, but also to foster entrepreneurship and support the growth of new businesses in the country.
