Sony has introduced the premium lens FE 85mm F1.4 GM II. The new lens promises a combination of high resolution, bokeh effects, and fast autofocus.
Sony has launched the premium lens FE 85mm F1.4 GM II. The optical design is the same as that of the predecessor model but offers a blend of bokeh effects with high resolution, according to a statement. In combination with Sony’s current Alpha cameras, the lens enables applications in various areas such as portrait, wedding, and travel photography, as well as shooting videos in cinema quality, it further states.
The lens configuration features two XA lens elements and two ED glass elements, which are intended to reduce imaging errors. Sony’s AR Nano Coating II also suppresses light reflections and ghosting effects, while the circular 11-blade aperture provides soft bokeh effects.
The FE 85mm F1.4 GM II has an autofocus speed that is up to three times faster than that of the predecessor model, the company states. This makes the lens capable of accurately capturing moving subjects. Compared to the predecessor model, the lens is 20 percent lighter and 13 percent smaller in volume. Additionally, the FE 85mm F1.4 GM II has a filter diameter of 77 millimeters, an overall diameter of 84.7 millimeters, and a length of 107.3 millimeters.
