Sony’s new DualSense Edge wireless controller gets the Xbox Elite

by time news

Sony has just announced a new DualSense Edge wireless controller. The “High Performance” controller is fully customizable, just like the Xbox Elite controller. Sony seems to have the best features out of the Scuf and Elite controllers, with removable analog thumb sticks, rear buttons, interchangeable stick covers, and multiple control profiles.

The DualSense Edge allows owners to switch between three types of stick caps: standard, high dome and low dome. There are two interchangeable back buttons (half-dome or lever) that can be assigned to any other buttons just like regular paddles. You can even exchange stick modules, which is a nice feature on the Xbox Elite. It will be sold separately.

Sony has also added adjustable hair locks at the back. These locks are ideal for players who prefer to physically lock their players. You can reset or disable button inputs and change stick sensitivity and dead zones.

As with other customizable consoles, you can save multiple controller profiles, which is great when you’re constantly changing games. Sony has added an interface on the console with a dedicated function button that lets you quickly switch between modes, adjust audio and chat balance, and access profile settings to change the console during gameplay.

You can get a USB-C cable that comes with the DualSense Edge, which includes a connector sleeve that clips onto the console. There’s also a carrying case like the Xbox Elite, which keeps all the components in one place and lets you charge the console via USB while it’s in storage.

Sony only teased the DualSense Edge console during the opening of Gamescom Night Live, and there’s no confirmed release date or price yet. DualSense Edge didn’t launch soon enough. “In the coming months, we look forward to sharing more details about the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, including release timing, and we can’t wait to see how the PS5 community unlocks the full potential of console customization options,” said Hideki Nishino, Senior Vice President of PlayStation Platform Experience.
