Soon a direct train line between Moramanga and Toamasina

The passenger train on the Tana-Côte Est (TCE) railway line resumes service from June 1, announces the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology. The train will run between Toamasina and Moramanga, passing through Ambila Lemaitso, Brickaville and Andasibe and will serve 23 stations. The opening of the direct railway line between Moramanga and Toamasina has been awaited by the population of this axis for several years.

According to the schedule announced by Madarail, the concessionaire of the network, TCE, the journeys between Moramanga and Toamasina will be made every Thursday with a departure at 6 am, the returns will be on Saturdays at the same time. Another train will make the connection between Moramanga and Ambila-Lemaitso on Sundays with a return every Tuesday.

This passenger train is made up of two cars including a first class car with 64 seats and three second class cars, each with 72 seats. The price of the ticket will be 7,000 ariary in second class, 15,000 ariary in first class and 110 ariary for luggage.

The local communities will be responsible for ticket sales and platform management, while Madarail will ensure the circulation and management of the train crew. According to estimates by the Ministry of Transport, more than 100,000 people living in isolated localities on this axis depend on this line to circulate, for lack of passable roads.
