Their ambition is the well-being of the children of the Mères Brandis orphanage in Affamè. They are the women grouped together in the Soroptimist International club Cotonou Doyen. Led by their president, Emilie Babagbéto, they went to offer their reserves to the center based in the commune of Bonou. It was Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Indeed, the delegation of women committed to the development of women, girls and children, brought for the happiness of the residents of this orphanage a gift consisting of living and not living. Speaking of living, according to the president, these are bags of rice, beans, gari, boxes of pasta, cans of oil, packets of sugar, boxes of concerns. As for the non-living, we note boxes of soaps, games and books for children’s entertainment. So many things that sparked joy both for those in charge of the place and for the children.

But before they expressed their feelings, it was the president of the women’s donors’ club who explained the context. “Last time, when we went by, we promised to come back before Christmas. But we learned that you shared Christmas. Suddenly, that changed everything. But we insisted on coming. And here we are with our Christmas present today,” said President Emilie Babagbéto before inviting those responsible to receive the batch of packages. Commenting on the choice of games and books, the president indicated that it is because “the education of children is part of their actions”. “We want you to succeed on an educational level,” she said before announcing that her sisters are keen to enrich the center’s library.

For her part, Grace Attakpa, representative of the residents, expressed on behalf of her sisters all her joy. “We are very happy. And I would like, on behalf of my sisters here, to thank all the mothers in the club who thought of us once again. Thank you my dear mothers for your benefits in our boarding school. We promise to be wise, to work to have a good result at the end of the year. God bless you,” she said. As for Sister FidéliaNoelieAnichéou, sister of Marie of the miraculous medal, she stressed that the management of the reception center is really happy to see the Soroptimist women of the Cotonou Doyen club at their side. “We say a sincere thank you for everything,” she said.

It should be noted that the mothers intend to return in the coming months to this center for which they have been fighting since 2014 through the construction of dormitories and libraries and many others.
