The last television direction of theatrical works, Paolo Sorrentino had done for Rai at the San Ferdinando, directing Toni and Peppe Servillo in The voices within. The Oscar winner returned to theater direction to pay homage to Mattia Torre, television writer – by Boris to name one — and playwright, who died prematurely three years ago when he was only 47. The result is a sextet of plays that will be broadcast on Rai Tre starting tomorrow, at 10pm, for six consecutive Saturdays.
From Boris to “Six Easy Pieces”
Sorrentino has always been an admirer of Torre as evidenced by his participation-incursion in an episode of Boris in which he acted himself, returning from the success of The celebrity (get it on Youtube, it’s still hilarious). This estimate for the ironic and at the same time analytical and profound figure of Torre, Sorrentino reiterated it at the presentation of Six easy pieces which is the title of the Rai Cultura project. Explaining that his directing intervention was minimal, he said that: «There is no need to reinvent something as beautiful in itself as the theater of Mattia Torre, made up of strong and well thought-out texts. The actors

Filming at Ambra Jovinelli
