Sorsogon City to receive up to $40,000 EU funding

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines, in partnership with the EU–PH Green Economy Partnership, is offering up to USD 40,000 in funding for innovative circular economy solutions in 10 local government units (LGUs), with a deadline of 19 October 2026.

The UNDP Philippines, under the EU–PH Green Economy Partnership (SO2 Green LGUs), has launched the Circular Solutions Innovation Challenge, providing up to USD 40,000 in funding for proposals addressing plastic and organic food circularity in 10 LGUs, including Sorsogon City. The initiative aims to pilot scalable business solutions that reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, and drive economic development within local communities (Fundsforngos).

The challenge is part of the EU–PH Green Economy Partnership’s efforts to advance circular economy priorities in selected LGUs. It focuses on two priority areas: Plastic Circularity, which emphasizes innovations in reducing, reusing, recycling, and redesigning plastics, and Organic & Food Circularity, targeting food waste reduction, conversion of organic waste into useful products, and promotion of sustainable agriculture (Fundsforngos).
