Soufiane El Bakkali: The Ouissam with which HM the King decorated me strongly encourages me to honorably represent Morocco during the next major events
Tetouan – Olympic champion Soufian El Bakkali said that the Ouissam with which HM King Mohammed VI decorated him, after winning the gold medal in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), “is a source of pride and strongly encourages me to honorably represent Morocco at the next major international sporting events.”
In a statement to the press on the occasion of the audience granted to him by the Sovereign on Wednesday at the Royal Palace in Tetouan, El Bakkali expressed his heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for his constant support and continued encouragement which allowed him to persevere in a positive dynamic and achieve more performances for Morocco.
The Olympic champion also expressed his pride and immense joy for the Royal audience, during which he was decorated by the Sovereign of Ouissam Al Arch with the Order of Commander, following his feat during the last Olympic Games by retaining his title for the second consecutive time after the Tokyo 2020 edition.
