During these holidays, the Mexico City offers an excellent cultural opportunity with free entry to two must-see venues, the museums Jumex y Soumaya.
He Museo Jumex houses Silhouettes on Weeds, a collective exhibition that brings together the practices of six Latin American artists: Minia Biabiany, Vivian Caccuri, Ana Mendieta, Nohemí Pérez, Vivian Suter and Frieda Toranzo Jaeger. The exhibition, valid until January 5, 2025, explores the relationships between humans, territory and nature.

The works combine visual poetics with social criticism. Ana Mendieta It fuses the body and the earth in pieces that evoke the connection with the ancestral and the natural. Nohemi Perez presents monumental landscapes worked with charcoal, which reveal the violence exercised over devastated territories. For its part, Vivian Caccuri uses sounds inspired by Amazonia to create an installation that amplifies interactions between organisms and environments.
ANOTHER AESTHETIC OF ART
On the other hand, the Museo Soumaya presents in one of its five available rooms, Room 3, the collection Old European and New Spain Masters, whothat includes works of 13th to 19th century. The room brings together representative pieces from the Flemish, Spanish, German, Italian and French schools, in addition to including outstanding examples of New Spain art.
Among the most notable authors are El GrecoBartolomé Esteban Murillo, Lucas Cranach the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens, who portray religious scenes, allegories and passages of daily life with an unmatched technique. The dialogue between European and New Spain art offers a unique look at the process of cultural exchange during the viceregal period.

Both museums are located in Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 303in the Polanco area. The Jumex Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the Soumaya Museum is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday.
