A release that made a lot of noise in the United States this year was Sound of Freedom for Extra-Cinematic Reasons. It had a lot of ticket sales but not so many viewers, if we talk about the commercial side.

Something similar perhaps to some small national premieres where tickets are bought to figure out big sales and thus have continuity and collect subsidies… but different. This was also seen in Argentina with religious premieres, where some of the groups that brought the film bought thousands of tickets to give away among their faithful… where not all of them went.

In the United States, many articles came out regarding the tickets for Sonido de libertad, but from another point of view to those mentioned here, in many they spoke of different groups buying tickets as a way of supporting the filmmakers or what they were saying. That’s why the numbers were good.

Here yesterday 55,000 tickets were sold among all the films according to Ultracine, and some 32,000 were from Sonido de libertad. The second at the box office was Háblame with less than 10%…

If we look for the cinema that sold the most tickets, it was by far the Cinemark San Justo, a cinema that is usually not in the top ten of cinemas. So that’s weird.

But for the reports, Sonido de libertad had those 32,000 tickets sold. Would they have been the same number of viewers?
