Normally, you should take headphones out of your ears when you go to sleep. But with the Soundcore Sleep A10 it’s exactly the opposite: they are meant to be worn overnight and the manufacturer even promises that they will improve sleep. BILD tried the 179-euro mini in-ears.
sleep aid
The earphones of the Sleep A10 are tiny and come with six different pairs of plugs. No wonder: Every wearer should be able to find an attachment that fits perfectly in the ear. After all, the A10 should be worn overnight.
In practice, this part works great. The A10 nestle comfortably in the ear and become practically impalpable. At least as long as you’re lying on your back. Side sleepers should definitely try the earplugs first, because some users report problems with the fit when they lie directly on the headphones.
Soundcore does without active noise cancellation in the A10, instead relying on earplugs with a double silicone seal and soothing sounds that are intended to mask ambient noise. They come from a nicely designed app that offers a large selection of these so-called white noises. The headphones automatically adjust the volume to the environment if desired.
Sleep tracker on board
In the app, Soundcore also collects data from the sleep tracker built into the A10. It shows sleep phases and length, but unfortunately offers hardly any explanations or tips on how to improve your sleep.
Arguably the coolest feature of the A10 is its alarm clock. It only rings in the wearer’s ear, reliably waking him up without disturbing a partner.
Of course, if you like, you can also use the A10 as headphones in everyday life. Their sound is consistently good: the basses are surprisingly powerful, but the trebles unfortunately lack some brilliance and dynamics. The battery lasts almost 10 hours in sleep mode, while playing normal music the runtime drops to a good six hours. The only flaw: The A10 have no microphones, so they cannot be used for making calls.
Conclusion
The Sleep A10 will certainly help some bad sleepers with its soothing sounds. However, they cannot cure actual sleep disorders.
The headphones are exciting because of the built-in sleep tracking and their very discreet wake-up function.
