Sourav ganguly on indian legend keen to be head coach

by time news

Just a few weeks ago, cricket legend Rahul Dravid took over as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. According to Kubir, VVS Laxman was keen on becoming the coach of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Saurav Ganguly.

He added, ‘Lakshman was much desired to be the coach for the Indian team. That is not possible at the moment. But I am confident that Lakshman’s wish will come true, though not soon, ‘he said openly.

Rahul Dravid was the President of the National Cricket Academy before taking charge as the coach of India. Laxman is currently the President of the National Cricket Academy, with Dravid taking over as coach. It is noteworthy that Dravid held that position for about 4 years. Along with those responsibilities, Dravid also coached the India A and Under-19 teams.

Ganguly, who has spoken openly about Laxman, has also revealed a secret about Dravid. Rahul Dravid has said that he does not want to be the head coach of the Indian team and that it was Ganguly who changed his mind.

‘We have been thinking for a long time that Rahul should be the next coach of India. But he has no interest in it. The reason is that the Indian team travels abroad for many months in a year and plays cricket series. It was not optimal for him. He will be with the team for almost 8 or 9 months in a year.

He felt it would affect his family. Especially since he has two kids and thought it would not fit. But we agreed to let him take over as coach one way or another, ”said Ganguly.

Dravid made his Test debut as the Indian coach in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. The Indian team won the first series in which he took charge.
