Sourav Ganguly should be allowed to contest ICC elections – Mamata Banerjee ‘Ganguly is not a member of any political party’; Mamata told Prime Minister Sourav Ganguly should be allowed to contest ICC elections

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee supports former Indian player Sourav Ganguly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to Ganguly to allow him to contest the ICC polls. Mamata Banerjee added that Ganguly is a popular person and does not belong to any political party.

She was speaking to reporters at the Kolkata airport ahead of her North Bengal tour. Sourav Ganguly is the pride of India. He was an efficient ruler. But Ganguly was left out even though Amit Shah’s son is still with the BCCI. Mamata also said that she wants to know what is meant by this.

The Chief Minister of Bengal also requested the Indian government not to take political decisions on the issue. Suvendu Adhikari came with a reply to Mamata. He retorted that if Mamata Banerjee wanted to extend Sourav Ganguly’s tenure, she should have made him the brand ambassador of West Bengal.

“Don’t politicize the game. PM Modi is staying away from such things. If Dada wants so much good then replace Shah Rukh Khan and make Sourav Ganguly the brand ambassador of West Bengal” – said Suvendu Adhikari.
