Souss-Massa: opening of the 10th Almond Festival in Tafraoute

Organised under the theme “Land of almond trees, land of the future”, this festival is part of the new strategy “Generation Green 2020-2030” and aims to contribute to the promotion of the heritage of the Anti-Atlas and the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of local populations through the consolidation of the principles of the social and solidarity economy.

The festival, organized in the heart of the city of Tafraoute on an area of ​​1,000 m2, also aims to promote the almond industry, the flagship and certified product of the area.

This event is attended by 60 exhibitors of local products as well as professionals from the sector. The products exhibited meet health safety standards and have certificates from the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA).

The Festival, which also includes several activities aimed at strengthening the technical skills of participants through the organization of conferences and training courses, offers a space for artistic, folkloric, educational and cultural activities intended for visitors and partners estimated at 80,000 participants.

Accompanied by the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, the governors of the provinces of Tiznit and Chtouka Ait Baha, the president of the Souss-Massa regional council, the president of the regional Chamber of Agriculture and elected officials, Mr. Sadiki carried out field visits to the provinces of Tiznit and Chtouka Ait Baha on the sidelines of the opening of this festival.

At the level of the city of Tiznit, the minister chaired the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for the contribution to the financing of the qualification program and improvement of the attractiveness of this city, concluded between the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the Council of the Souss-Massa region and the territorial commune of Tiznit.

This initiative, whose contribution from the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests is close to 100 million dirhams spread over four years, is mainly dedicated to projects for the creation of a modern complex of collective slaughterhouses, a livestock and animal feed market at a cost of 50 million dirhams and the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of the potential of the “Targa” oasis at a cost of 50 million dirhams.

Mr. Sadiki also chaired the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for the contribution to the financing of development programs in the province of Tiznit between the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the Council of the Souss-Massa region, the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Souss-Massa and the Provincial Council of Tiznit.

In this context, Mr. Sadiki stressed that the agreement for the rehabilitation and improvement of the attractiveness of the city of Tiznit includes several components, which concern the strengthening of the attractiveness of the city’s territory, in particular through the promotion of economic and service infrastructures.

In a statement to M24, the continuous news channel of the MAP Agency, the official indicated that this agreement will contribute to the financing of the development plan of the province of Tiznit and the implementation of the Generation Green strategy (2020-2030).

These protocols are part of the “Generation Green 2020-2030” strategy and aim to contribute to the emergence of an agricultural middle class and a new generation of young agricultural entrepreneurs, to contribute to the training of a new generation of efficient and modern professional agricultural organizations, to the establishment of a new generation of support systems and to the strengthening of the province’s production sectors.

It is also about improving the level of valorization of agricultural products, developing efficient distribution channels through the modernization of wholesale and weekly markets, improving the quality of products and establishing agriculture that is resilient to climate change.

At the level of the commune of Ammelne in Tafraoute, the minister presided over the inauguration of an olive oil crushing unit. The unit is installed on a total area of ​​2,070 m2, including 614 m2 covered, for a total cost of 7.25 million dirhams.

The project aims to enhance the value of olive oil, strengthen the capacities of the cooperative members, and improve working and production conditions as well as the income of the beneficiaries. The unit has a production capacity of 750 kg/hour.

At the level of the territorial commune of Tarsouat, under the province of Tiznit, the official presided over the launch of construction works on the rural track linking the douars of Ait hsein, Imkensen and Azrou Ikhass over a length of 4.2 km.

With a total cost of 2.54 million DH, this project will improve traffic flow and production and marketing conditions as well as encourage investment in the agricultural sector and the development of intercommunal agro-tourism. It should also help to open up the rural population of several douars.

At the level of the territorial commune of Aït Baha, Mr. Sadiki inquired about the components of the development program for mountain areas in the Ait Baha circle.

With a total amount of 121 million DH, this program is part of the new Generation Green strategy and aims to qualify and develop the project areas through development programs for plant and animal agricultural sectors, including olive trees, carob trees, cactus, livestock, etc.

It also includes hydro-agricultural development, the construction and rehabilitation of rural tracks and roads, the equipment and creation of water points as well as the development of oases.
