With the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the work of the tourist Forum “EU Tourism: Resilience in the Era of the Climate Crisis” is expected to take place in Rhodes (central photo of the text) on April 8 and 9.
In the Forum, which will be attended by the 10 leading Associations of tourism businesses in Europe, the effects of Climate Change will be discussed, which overturn traditional business models, affect the preferences and behaviors of travelers, complicate investment decisions and make it difficult to manage tourist destinations. .
The objectives of the Forum were analyzed during today’s press conference by the President of HOTREC, Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, and the Regional Governor of South Aegean, Mr. Giorgos Chatzimarkos. It is noted that Hotrec is the umbrella organization of hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes and related businesses in Europe.
On the occasion of the interview, Mr. Vasilikos spoke of positive assessments regarding this year’s tourist season, however, he noted that tourism operators should prepare for the coming years based on other parameters that now affect tourism, such as Climate Change and the organization of the Forum is a good opportunity for this.
For his part, the Regional Governor emphasized that based on the data so far, a double-digit increase is recorded for this season both in terms of reservations at tourist accommodations and available airline seats at the 5 airports of the South Aegean.
