South Africa qualified, for the first time in history, for the Round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup.

South Africa is in the Round of 16. In the second participation in a women’s football World Cupafter 2019 in France, the South Africans won the final game of the group stage, 2-1 against Italyand consequently qualified for the next phase of the test.

At the start of this final round in Group G, South Africa, Italy and Argentina were hopeful to be able to accompany Sweden.

South Africa, turnaround… favorable

The South Africans had just one point after the first two roundsthis despite having been winning in the two meetings they played.

The game even got off to a bad start, as the Italians opened the scoring through Arianna Caruso, with a penalty.

In the second half, the South African team will score two more goals through Hildah Magaia and Thembi Kgatlana, while the Italians will only score one more goal through Arianna Caruso.

At the end of the game, the South Africans won 3-2 and finished in second place with four pointswhile Italy was third with three points.

Sweden in first place

The Swedish National Team ended up beating Argentina by 2-0, at the Waikato Stadium, in Hamilton, New Zealand. Sweden’s goals were scored by Rebecka Blomqvist and Elin Rubensson, from the penalty spot.

A triumph that allowed the Swedes to finish in first place in Group G with nine pointshaving won all three games: 2-1 against South Africa, 5-0 against Italy, and this triumph by 1-0 against Argentina.

As for Argentina, they finished in last place with one pointafter two defeats and a 2-2 draw against South Africa.

The Women’s World Cup takes place in Australia and New Zealand until the 20th of August.
