New Zealand lead South Africa 1-0 in the first Test of the two-match Test series by an innings margin.
The 2nd Test starts yesterday (25th) in Christchurch. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening batsmen of the South African team, Ervi and Elgar, combined for 111 for the first wicket. Elgar was bowled out for 41. Markram, who landed in the 3rd row, also drove well. Markram was bowled out for 42, while Erway, who scored a huge century, was bowled out for 108. After Markram was dismissed, Ervey was dismissed in the next over.
This is followed by Vander Dawson and Temba Bowma. The first day’s play ended with South Africa trailing by 238 for 3 with Dozen on 13 and Bauma on 22. As Bauma and Dozen continued today’s play on the 2nd day, Bauma lost by 29 runs and Dozen by 35 runs. Marco Johnson, who played well in the back row, stood on the field till the end with 37 runs. Maharaj scored 36 for his part. South Africa scored 364 in the first innings.
The New Zealand openers then started the first innings with Tom Latham hitting a run and Will Young tying the run for 3. Devon Conway was out for 16, while the well-played Henry Nichols was out for 39. Tom Blundell was out for just 6 runs.
New Zealand have lost 5 wickets for 91 runs, followed by Daryl Mitchell and Colin de Granthome. Colin de Granthome, who played in action, scored a fifty. At the end of the 2nd day, the New Zealand team scored 157 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Colin de Grant Home, who played in action, is on the field with 54 off 61 balls. Daryl Mitchell is on the field with 29 runs. Rabada, who bowled brilliantly for South Africa, took 3 wickets and Marco Jansen took 2 wickets.
