The South District Prosecutor’s Office (criminal) has filed an indictment against Eliran Visokar (38), Dan El Visokar (28), and Beni Malko (28) from Kiryat Gat, who are suspected of extorting thousands of shekels from an individual through threats. The case has been submitted to the Be’er Sheva District Court.

According to the indictment presented by attorney Alex Dernboim, the defendants had a prior acquaintance with the complainant and the complainant had previously transferred money to Eliran Visokar on multiple occasions to assist him. However, at the beginning of the month, Eliran attempted to contact the complainant several times without success.

In response to this, Eliran contacted the complainant’s brother, threatening to sever ties unless he revealed why the complainant was not responding. Concerned, the complainant’s brother contacted the complainant and asked him to talk to Eliran.

Later that day, Dan El and the two Visokar brothers arrived at the complainant’s home. They demanded NIS 5,000 from the complainant, claiming that Eliran had asked for it and urged the complainant to “finish it nicely.” Frightened, the complainant informed them that he didn’t have the requested amount. The accused left the premises but returned with another individual.

Fearful of the threats made by the defendants, the complainant sent his brother to negotiate with them. The brother stated that he did not possess the requested sum. In response, Eliran shouted menacingly, “I will slaughter your brother, your parents will say Kaddish over him.”

In a subsequent call, Eliran demanded the NIS 5,000 from the complainant’s brother by a specific deadline. Afraid for his safety and his family’s, the complainant’s brother enlisted the help of a friend to pay the money to Eliran.

Approximately ten days after the initial incident, Eliran reached out to the complainant’s brother, expressing regret for the situation and requesting to speak with him. The next day, Eliran and the other accused showed up at the complainant’s brother’s residence, demanding an additional NIS 3,000 to “close the matter nicely.” The brother reiterated that he had no money and implored Eliran to cease his actions before Shabbat.

In response, Eliran erupted in shouts, proclaiming, “Your brother died today.” This outburst caught the attention of the complainant’s mother, who promptly contacted the police. Officers arrived at the scene, entering the premises to investigate the incident.

During a search of the accused’s vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered a folding knife, a wooden weapon, and a machete. Consequently, the defendants have been charged with the offense of extortion by threats. Additionally, Dan El has received an illegal possession charge for having a fist or a knife.

The court proceedings will determine the legal consequences for the three accused individuals, who face serious charges relating to extortion and threats.
