The South Indian University Inter-University Football Championship kicked off yesterday at Kattangolathuar SRM University in Chennai. Organized by the All India Football Federation, the championship has attracted 70 teams from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry.
The first match saw SRM University of Technology and YSR University of Andhra Pradesh go head to head. Despite a strong performance from SRM, YSR University emerged victorious with a score of 9-0.
Subsequent matches saw teams from Central UNI, Velwar VIT, Alagappa, Periyar Maniammai, SRM Engineering, Karunya, Abdul Kalam University in Kerala, and Puducherry University clinch victory in their respective matches.
The championship will culminate in the final on December 30th. The top four teams from the tournament will qualify for the All India University Tournament scheduled to be held on January 2nd, 2024. The South Indian University Inter-University Football Championship promises to showcase the best of talent from the southern states and is sure to be an exciting event for football enthusiasts.
