At the beginning of this meeting, the participants watched a documentary film, retracing the epic of the glorious Green March, which allowed Morocco to complete its territorial integrity.
A fine example of mobilization and discipline that continues to arouse the admiration of the international community, the Green March, during which 350,000 Moroccans, women and men, marched in peace to seal the definitive and unequivocal return of the southern provinces to the motherland, paving the way for another equally important fight: that of the development of these dear provinces within the framework of a national effort that encompasses all regions of the Kingdom.
Through this film, the South Korean audience was able to see the progress made by Morocco to make the southern provinces a real area of prosperity and a center of development and cooperation.
The vast all-round development projects, initiated under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, are presented as eloquent evidence of the level of development achieved by the southern provinces, now a space dedicated to peace, stability and development.
Sung Jum-Hwa, president of the Moroccan-Korean friendship association, aptly summed up such a boom when he invited his compatriots, during the meeting, to discover more about the southern Moroccan provinces, in particular the business opportunities that have been strengthened in this region thanks to the development projects launched, notably the Dakhla Atlantic Port, a megaproject that stands out within the framework of Morocco’s development model.
“We are all very impressed by the remarkable development and progress made by Morocco in various strategic sectors, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has played a leading role in transforming Morocco into a prosperous and modern African nation and a model of stability and progress,” said Mr. Sung.
Returning to the epic of the Green March, Mr. Sung recalled the message addressed to the late His Majesty Hassan II by the former South Korean President, Park Chung Hee, expressing his congratulations for the success of the Green March, a march, he said, which marked the recovery of the Moroccan Sahara without shedding a single drop of blood.
Abounding in this sense, the Moroccan ambassador to South Korea, Chafik Rachadi, while recalling the historical significance of the Green March, stressed that the southern provinces are today establishing themselves as a space of “resilience and transformation”.
No effort is spared to ensure the development of these provinces, within the framework of a perceptive vision and an ambitious national policy implemented under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, said the ambassador, stressing that this policy, innovative in its approach, ambitious in its objectives and holistic in its achievement, leaves nothing to chance.
The cultural, social and environmental dimension occupies a central place in this strategy, he added, stressing that the southern provinces are now a breeding ground for large-scale projects that have changed the face of the region.
Moreover, the colorful meeting was an opportunity to discover the beauty of Morocco’s picturesque landscapes and its development efforts through the presentation of a beautiful book, illustrated with photographs as captivating as they are splendid, which offer a unique journey, including in the far south of the Kingdom.
Created by South Korean artist Lee Haeja, after a journey across the Kingdom including the southern provinces, the book tells, through more than 200 photographs, the story of a country proud of its thousand-year-old history and confident in its determined march towards greater progress, prosperity and modernity.
Ms. Lee recounts her Moroccan experience with passion. A passion translated into a beautiful book, which she believes is a hymn to the beauty and diversity of Morocco.
“Everywhere I went, I was amazed by the beauty and splendor of a country where I spent particularly unforgettable moments that left a lasting impression on me,” said the artist.
For her, the vast Moroccan south, with its unique beauty and tranquility and its golden dunes, remains “a must-see”.
In short, from the vast expanses of southern Morocco, to Fez, with its ancient medina and its alleys with unequalled scents, passing through Casablanca and its legendary Hassan II Mosque and Marrakech and its monuments which tell a glorious story, Morocco is a country with multiple charms and mysteries which are the perfect illustration of a nation where history and the future intertwine to offer the world a beautiful example of harmony.
South Korean speakers, during the meeting, applauded the steps taken by Morocco on the path to development, while stressing that the Kingdom is establishing itself, thanks to its progress, as an essential partner for South Korea.
The common history of the two countries pleads, as the Moroccan ambassador to Seoul stressed, in favor of a mutually beneficial Moroccan-Korean partnership.
