The South Korean military has resumed firing exercises at ranges near the border with North Korea for the first time in six years, which had previously been suspended as part of bilateral agreements to reduce tensions.
As reported by Day.Az with reference to Gazeta.ru, this was reported by the Seoul news agency “Ronhap”.
Artillery firing took place in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do provinces. K-9 and K105A1 self-propelled artillery units participated in the exercises.
On June 4, South Korea completely suspended the 2018 inter-Korean military agreement.
Previously, it was reported that the DPRK had test-launched a new type of ballistic missile, the Hwasongpho-11Da-4.5.
The day before, South Korea reported an unsuccessful launch of a ballistic missile by the DPRK. According to the representative of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of South Korea, Lee Song-jun, the missile may have failed at the beginning of the flight and its debris could have fallen on North Korean territory. According to him, there is a possibility that it flew towards Pyongyang.
