BOLZANO. There are 746 sports clubs and associations that in 2024 have requested a contribution from the Sports Office for their annual activities, equipment, facilities and devices, as well as for the organization of events and courses. In the current year, 6.3 million euros in contributions have been paid, 7.5% more than the previous year.

The range of applicants ranges from amateur sports clubs to associations involved at a national level, which cover different disciplines: from Alpine skiing to Nordic skiing, curling, cycling, handball and basketball, through chess, bowling and taekwondo. Sports disciplines for people with disabilities such as goalball (football played by athletes with visual impairments) and Paralympic sports are also involved. The Sports Councillor Peter Brunner emphasizes the importance of supporting the work and passion of sports associations and clubs: “This support guarantees the development and access to sports opportunities for all age groups, especially for young people. Sports clubs allow young people to develop qualities such as perseverance, fairness, teamwork and much more”. The Province – a note underlines – has made available almost 700,000 euros for the “Plants, structures, equipment” sector, which will allow the purchase of sports equipment, technical aids and structures for clubs and sports centers.

An amount of 370,000 euros has been earmarked for the organization of national and international competitions, such as the European Cup slalom in Obereggen, swimming meetings or the World Cup luge race on a natural track in Lasa. This year, almost 90,000 euros will be made available for the training and further education of coaches, technicians, officials and volunteers.
