Soyuz rocket with Japanese tourists launched to ISS

The Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with the Soyuz MS-20 manned transport vehicle was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The spacecraft will take Japanese space tourists to the International Space Station (ISS). The launch is broadcast by Roscosmos.

The rocket was launched at 10:38 Moscow time from site number 31, the launch was carried out normally. On board the spacecraft are cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin and space flight participants Yusaku Maezawa and Yozo Hirano. The flight will last 12 days.

The ship will dock to the “Search” module at 16:41 Moscow time. It is planned to deliver about 162 kg of payloads to the ISS, “including materials for biomedical research and experiments, consumable equipment, hygiene products, food rations and 13 kg of fresh fruit,” the state corporation said.
