Saber Interactive launched Anniversary Update II for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on October 1, 2026. The free release introduces Chaos Siege Mode to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, alongside a new Crucible system and weapon adjustments for the cooperative action shooter’s third year of post-launch support.
Chaos Siege Mode and Crucible System Arrive in Patch 15.0
Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive delivered the content as version 15.0, appearing on consoles as patch version 1.015 or 1.015.000. For the first time in the title, the forces of Chaos intervene in the ongoing conflict between the Imperium and the Tyranids.
While players could previously select Chaos Space Marines within Eternal War PvP matches, those random assignments prevented users from reliably choosing their faction. The new PvE experience ensures every participant starts as a Chaos soldier alongside their allies.
The latest patch expands the game’s cooperative offerings by bringing playable Chaos Space Marines into PvE matches for the first time. Players can now select Heretic Astartes outside of competitive PvP across two new Siege sectors set on Avarax, battling against Tyranids, Cadians, and loyalist Space Marines. Alongside this mode, the release brings the Crucible System, which lets veterans apply self-imposed negative modifiers and debuffs to missions in exchange for progression rewards such as the Lamenters armour set.

Community requests also brought the One-Handed Thunder Hammer into the armories for Tactical, Assault, Bulwark, and Techmarine classes. Additional gear includes three new variants for the Power Axe, Auto Bolt Rifle, and the thunder hammer, alongside new Heroic armor pieces.
Additional additions include two new pauldrons and a new Iron Halo. Season Pass 3 holders also receive the initial two downloadable content packs, including the Space Wolves Champion Pack which equips the Bulwark class with a Wolf Guard Champion skin.
Tactical Class Overhaul and Balance Changes Shape Combat
Combat adjustments accompany the new modes, led by an overhaul of the Tactical class.
Additional skill tree shifts target survivability and crowd control. Scanning Extremis or Terminus-level enemies restores half of the Auspex scan charge through the Vital Data perk.

Balance modifications touch multiple loadouts across the arsenal. Meanwhile, older nodes such as Steady Aim and Close Targeting were removed to make way for the new Focused Strike and Vital Data perks, with Improved Efficiency reducing Auspex Scan cooldowns by 25 percent.
Year Three Roadmap Schedules Apothecary Class and Future Operations
Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive outlined a schedule running through the third quarter of 2027. Patch 16 will introduce a new PvP mode featuring Weekly Stratagems before the end of the year, followed by Patch 17 in the first quarter of 2027, which officially confirms the arrival of the Apothecary class.
“We’ve been following all your speculations ever since we teased the arrival of a new class, and you certainly had plenty of theories… and the majority of you were right!”
Focus Entertainment
The publisher also confirmed that the Year Three Battle Plan includes two additional Operations, bringing the total mission count to 15 by Q3 2027, with game director Dmitry Grigorenko expressing a desire to push toward 18 to 20 missions eventually. Technical optimizations continue alongside console port work, while premium support includes five new Cosmetic and Champion Packs, starting with the Space Wolves Champion Pack.
The third-year support plan follows the breakout success of the third-person action co-op shooter since its September 2024 launch, which has drawn over 12 million players. Game director Dmitry Grigorenko noted in a community interview that while Saber Interactive is in early development on Space Marine 3—a future project still years away—the team is committed to maintaining continuous updates for the current title. Upcoming patches will also examine difficulty scaling against Chaos enemies, alongside deeper perk system adjustments and a planned Two-Handed Power Sword.
