SpaceX has launched 21 Iridium and OneWeb satellites into orbit. informed Noozhawk portal.
The Falcon 9 rocket carried five American Iridium communications satellites and 16 British OneWeb satellites. The Falcon 9 was launched from the SLC-4E launch complex at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County, California.
Iridium satellites will be used as additional satellites to improve the resiliency of the satellite communications system. The number of spare satellites in orbit will increase to 14, and the entire constellation will consist of 80 Iridium satellites.
The first stage of the booster is to land on a platform in the Pacific called Of Course I Still Love You.
