SpaceX deployed 27 Starlink internet satellites into low Earth orbit from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on October 30, 2026. The mission was the company’s 11th orbital launch of the month as it moves operational focus toward Starship.
SpaceX expected to close October with a final flight, and it did so by lifting off from Space Launch Complex 4 East at 9:04 p.m. local time on October 30, 2026. Base officials had alerted residents across Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties that sonic booms might be audible depending on weather conditions.
The upper stage deployed its payload roughly 62 minutes after liftoff, Space.com noted. This adds to a megaconstellation holding over 11,000 spacecraft in orbit.
Booster B1093 Completes 18th Mission
The mission used first-stage booster B1093 for its 18th trip to space and back. Its prior assignments included the SDA-T1TL-B and SDA-T1TL-C missions, Transporter-16, and 14 separate batches of Starlink internet payloads.
The booster descended over the Pacific Ocean roughly 8.5 minutes after clearing the pad. It touched down on the drone ship Of Course I Still Love You

Elon Musk shared his congratulations on social media, writing:

Congrats to the team on over 700 Falcon 9 flights.

California Surpasses Florida Launch Pace
California recorded its 72nd launch late in the month, surpassing Florida’s 60. This Halloween-eve operation capped off an intensive month of 11 orbital flights.
SpaceX decided to wind down Falcon 9 Starlink missions from Cape Canaveral. This allows Florida pads to concentrate on upcoming Starship testing.
The company’s overall cadence has adjusted from its 2025 peak. In December 2025, SpaceX achieved a peak of 171 orbital launches in a rolling 365-day window.

By late October 2026, that 12-month figure dipped below 150 launches for the first time since July 2025. Resources are redirecting toward heavy-lift development.
Starship Prepares for Flight 15
Corporate strategy centers on the next-generation Starship vehicle while Falcon 9 maintains a steady delivery schedule. Starship remains in its test-flight phase following three flights earlier in the year, Space.com noted. Flight 15 is anticipated in mid-November from Starbase in Texas.

Elon Musk projected an aggressive flight rate once full reusability is proven:
We expect Starship to fly weekly at some point in the first half next year and then second half next year, twice weekly or maybe even more frequently by the end of next year.

The company also expects orbital data centers to eclipse Earth-bound networks by late 2028. This would be supported by Starship’s massive cargo capacity and space-optimized solar infrastructure.
