SpaceX sends Crew Dragon into space with a fully civilian crew

by time news

SpaceX has sent the Crew Dragon into space for the first time, with only tourists on board. The launch was carried out from the site at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 20:03 local time.

For the first time in history, a completely non-professional crew went into orbit: businessman Jared Isaacman, researcher Sian Proctor, medic Hayley Arsenox and US Air Force veteran Christopher Sembroski.

According to RIA Novosti, Crew Dragon will spend three days in low-earth orbit. Various scientific experiments are planned.

The mission, called “Inspiration 4”, is charitable in nature. The main goal is to raise funds for one of the hospitals that treat childhood cancers.
