Today, Tuesday, a complete vaccination plan will be presented to the Spanish Council of Ministers, which, with its approval, could make Spain the first country in the European Union to have one of its type.

As reported by Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of that country, the vaccination plan will allow a substantial part of the Spanish population to be vaccinated in the first half of 2021.

During the presentation of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Spanish Economy, “Spain can,†the president explained that they have been working on this vaccination plan since September and that it foresees © increase health training places by 10 thousand to advance the incorporation of new professionals in order to strengthen the health services of all autonomous communities.

Although we still have to wait for the approval of the Council of Ministers, Sánchez has shared the most relevant aspects of said plan, where the main novelty is that there will only be one strategy, the national one, and by June they hope to have vaccinated to a substantial part of the population. Most of Spain’s Health responsibilities have been transferred to the autonomous regions, but the design of the vaccine distribution will be the responsibility of the Government, in collaboration with the different territories, with the fundamental objective of provide all prioritized groups with access to the vaccine, without differences between communities.

Without detailing who makes up those groups prioritized for access to the vaccine, the president has made it clear that among them will be health professionals and the elderly.

In January 2021, the campaign would begin, following the steps of the fight against the common flu through the 13 thousand vaccination points existing in that nation, which are the health centers throughout Spain, since According to Sánchez, the Spanish health system has an “outstanding” capacity for vaccination in a short time, which in 2020, for example, vaccinated 14 million people against the flu in just eight weeks.

However, the campaign against Covid-19 will be somewhat slower due to the complexity of manufacturing and distributing the new coronavirus vaccines.
