“The reforms undertaken by Morocco are very important, particularly in terms of consolidating family and women’s rights and social justice,” said Mr. Grande-Marlaska, in a statement to MAP on the occasion of the glorious Throne Day.

The minister assured that Spain welcomes these reforms and all the progress recorded in the different sectors of activity in Morocco, noting that these achievements consolidate the position of the Kingdom as a “strategic and reliable partner” both for Spain and for Europe.

“Our relations have reached a level of fraternity that goes beyond the friendship of neighbors,” said Mr. Grande-Marlaska, describing as “exceptional and extraordinary” the cooperation and coordination between Spain and Morocco.

In this regard, he stressed that the two countries constitute a “model of cooperation at EU level” in managing such important challenges as irregular migration and the fight against human trafficking mafias.

“Europe, as a whole, is inspired by the work carried out in this area between Spain and Morocco and is reproducing it at the multilateral level, which demonstrates the relevance of this extraordinary Moroccan-Spanish cooperation,” he continued.

In the fight against terrorism, Morocco and Spain also represent an “example” in terms of coordination based on trust, he concluded.
