Spanish Police Investigate AI-Generated Child Pornography
Spanish police have launched an investigation into five young men suspected of generating and distributing nude images of 20 underage girls using artificial intelligence. The investigation was sparked by a complaint filed by the parents of one of the victims.
The suspects, several of whom are minors themselves, are all from the Seville province. The images were manipulated using AI technology and then shared through well-known social media groups, causing significant emotional and social harm to the victims. Those responsible could face charges of child pornography and privacy violations.
The realistic nature of the images made it difficult for viewers to distinguish between the genuine and the AI-generated content. This case highlights the growing problem of “deepfake” pornography, which utilizes AI to create highly realistic images and videos.
